bear lake

Rare occasion that Nate wears a hat. If he looks awkward, that's because he is. We are working on it.

August 31, 2013
Labor day at Nate's family cabin. It was Jax's first time on a bike.
He was pretty much a natural.
Of course Gma and Gpa Brown came too. They can't pass up a ride.
The weather was awesome, and there was some good cousin bonding going on.

bed making

Not the most flattering picture, but it cracks me up.

I was the type that never made the bed growing up. But, since the beginning of my college years and being all grown up and stuff, I have made it a habit. Very rarely does it go un-made now.
Jax getting "made" in the bed has become a part of our morning ritual. It may be one of the only things that gets done during the day, but at least I've accomplished something.
And I can live with that.

2 month old baby boy

2 month Doctor Papa Check
Weight: 10 lbs even (double digits)
Height: 22 in
Not any fun watching him get shots.
You could see it in his eyes first, then the screaming began.

8 weeks: Aug 14, 2013

Aunt Kira came to visit on his sad day
2 month birthday: Aug 18, 2013.

hello, my name is jax

This onsie was from Melese. She gave it to me the day we found out that Jax was as boy.
And if finally fits him. I thought it never would.
Everyone knew his name at church today!
Annnnnd, we were matching which called for a small photo shoot!

torture vest

Summer time = boating time.
First time boater! And those baby life vests give me claustrophobia.
Torture for the little people.

Getting out on the lake with the fam sure is fun though. We said goodbye to our family friend Chrissy the Chris Craft. She had been in the family for a long time. Yet our boating style has changed over the years, and the Papa switched it up. I honestly thought he was going to live and die with Chrissy, but when Todd gets a hankerin for something different, he goes for it. Miss Mastercraft doesn't have a name yet, but she's a beaut! So fun to surf on. And surfing is a lot less
painful then wake boarding in my old age.

play dates

Play dates all summer long.
My friends and I got together with the little people. Not so much for the kids, but for us.
Great friends. Such a great reason to get out of the house!

"overall" a good baby

Jax was a fussy little baby boy. Not going to sugar coat it.
Definitely more rough days then good ones.
Since this is my first baby I really didn't have anything to compare it too, but I felt like all he would do was cry and cry and cry all the time for no reason at all.
I would have anxiety at night knowing that it would start all over the next day. It would be just him and me in the morning... and thats when the saddness would begin and wouldn't really stop until he was asleep.
I would feel bad when people would want to hold him. No one likes to hold a fussy baby.

BUT, when 2 months came around, I noticed that he was much happier! He started to really smile.
Not an angel child, but noticeably less wailing. Thank the heavens. A sad baby can really wear on a mother in many ways. 2 months might not seem like a long time, but during it felt like forever.
I truly tried to enjoy him even during this time, but I'm not going to lie there were sometimes when "enjoying" was a big stretch of a word.
Now I look forward to the mornings. He is a happy, happy boy. The mornings are for cuddling as long as we want!
When he looks at me and smiles, it makes it all worth it.

I was sad the day he grew out of these overalls

How he loves to be held. Nate has got it down.
